Hippobag is a convenient alternative solution to skip hire. The incredibly strong bag comes in three sizes, including the HIPPOSKIP and is purchased packed flat via the website or DIY stores. Customers simply fill the bag with their waste; be it a garden make-over or house renovation project, then book the bag collection, so no time-consuming trips to the dump.

The Challenge

Hiring a skip is the go-to solution for most consumers with large household waste and renovation projects. The HIPPOBAG, whist an alternative solution is a challenger product that not many consumers are aware of. Our challenge is to grow brand awareness and generate new customers currently unaware of this often cheaper, greener and more convenient alternative.

Following an extensive technical audit and programme of structural readiness, focus turned to improving on-site content to help explain product use-cases and analogous examples of HIPPOBAG versus a traditional skip, to help search engines and users understand how the product is equitable to skip hire.

The Results

153% increase in organic search traffic for the year ending April 2014, with sales up 142%. The campaign continues to deliver an average 320% ROI each and every month and has also won Best Use of Search at the Wirehive Awards 2013, and Best Use of Search – Retail at the 2013 UK Search Awards

Mercury Direct is a leading holiday provider, with destinations including Malta, Cyprus, Madeira, the Algarve and as far afield as Sri Lanka, Mauritius and China.

Holidays are carefully selected and sold direct meaning excellent value and customer service.

The travel industry is extremely competitive and particularly so in search. Not only does Mercury Direct compete with long established very large holiday companies such as Thomas Cook, but also travel review sites, booking engines and more.

Following a thorough technical audit and backlink analysis piece we implemented HREFlang solutions between the UK and IE websites, as well as managed integration of the company blog into the site.

We then evolved strategy to focus on content centred on interesting and emotive pieces that focus on great things to do and see in the holiday destinations that Mercury Direct offer.

The Results

Although the site was doing well when we started the project in 2013, we have seen 16.5% growth in organic search traffic to year end April 2014, but most importantly this growth has been driven by pages outside of the home page which is up 23% in the same period.
